Five petrol engines range from a 99bhp 1.6-litre to the 217bhp 2.5-litre T5. The latter is powerful and responsive. Three diesels are all capable and the D5 unit only available through an auto box.
Good composure but a rather firm ride, with poor feedback through the steering column.
Good insulation, generally quiet engines. Decent cruiser.
List prices are rather high, while residuals, fuel bills and insurance should be in your favour.
Looks and feels nice inside and there shouldn't be any problems with reliability.
Typically safe for a Volvo with six airbags, stability control and active front head restraints as standard.
Poor in the back for passengers and a small boot foe the class. Good space upfront though.
Climate control, electric front windows, MP3 stereo, and alloy wheels are standard. SE Sport trim adds larger alloy wheels and bodykit.
Volkswagen Golf, Audi A3, BMW 1-Series.
Volvo has a superb microsite for the C30 here.
Good to drive, decent cruiser, good kit levels.
A bit pricey, and arguably a bit pointless.
