Performance

Loads of engines are available. Picks include pretty much any of the diesels or the 2-litre petrol turbo. VXR engine is incredibly powerful, topping out at over 160mph, which is frankly ludicrous.

Driving

Good suspension makes it a great cruiser, and grip is good. The Vectra won't like being slammed around corners though, and if you try that in the VXR you're heading for spin city.

Feel

Superbly refined. A good cruiser.

Vauxhall Vectra Second Picture

Price

Running costs and list prices are good, but residuals are likely to be appalling.

Quality

Pleasant and durable inside, if dull. Vauxhall's mechanicals are usually strong.

Safety

Six airbags including side curtains are standard, active head restraints ABS are also.

Space

Good space for five adult and both saloon and hatch models have a large boot.

Equipment

Aircon, cruise control, a CD player and front electric windows are standard.

Alternatives

Ford Mondeo, Renault Laguna, Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord, Mazda 6

Pros

Great refinement and space.

Cons

Not a great drive, residuals on certain models are appalling.

i brought my 3.0 v6 cdti sri vectra with 20000 miles on a 55 plate, since then i have covered 11000 miles in approx 10 wks, 95% of that is around town mileage as it is now a taxi, the only niggle with the car is the sport suspenstion which seems 2 b giving an intermittent "bang", the car is doing approx 32mpg and has power 2 pull up any hill in torbay, fully loaded, with ease, comfort and great smoothness! out of 10 i would give this car 11!!!!!! is great and so much fun!!!!!! just waiting 4 all the points 2 start coming through the letter box!!!!!!
