Renault Modus overview

Manufacturer
Renault

Model
Modus

Segment/Specs
Supermini

Versatility is the key word here, but it's a bit of an oddity.

Renault Modus 1

Performance

Six engines available. All are good barring the 1.2-litre petrol which struggles.

Driving

Good around town and fairly composed around corners at speed, thought there's some body roll. Ride is good.

Feel

Smaller engines are noisier, unsurprisingly.

Price

More expensive than some other superminis but good running costs and decent comparable running costs need to be factored in.

Quality

Good mechanicals and cabin.

Safety

Packed with safety kit and 5 NCAP stars.

Space

Plenty of room for passengers. Versatility in rear bench options provides more space too.

Equipment

CD player, central locking, electric front windows as standard.

Alternatives

Nissan Note

Pros

Good space, decent drive.

Cons

Pricier than most rivals.

1st Class

Had my Modus for around 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. Big enough to do the shopping and pick my children up from school. I work in Liverpool and the car is no problem on the motorway and no problem in city traffic at the end of the day. Looking forward to finishing the day already and driving home in it! 10/10
