Plenty of choice over diesels and petrols. 2 and 2.2-litre diesels are probably the pick.
Composed and comfortable. Impressive for a large car.
Smaller engines struggle when revved so can be noisy. Overall fairly hushed though.
Expensive in the range, but running costs should be decent on the diesels, and there's plenty of kit to reckon on. Residuals are also strong.
Good inside and engines should be strong. Previous model suffered with reliability, however.
Packed with safety kit and 5 NCAP stars.
Seven seats, with the rear seats splitfolding to provide more loadspace. Boot is fairly small before extended though,.
Loads of kit at entry-level and plenty beyond.
Citroen C8
Safe, comfortable, versatile.
Small space for luggage with the seats up.

My wife wanted us to buy a MPV, and I hated the idea. I have been driving a variety of hot hatches and small sports-car, but eventually she got her way. Not without a struggle, though, and this V6-version of the Espace nearly makes up for it. Sure, it isn't a MX-5 or a MG-F, but it gives most cars a run for its money, and it has tons and tons of space.
