2.4-litre petrol model churns out 162bhp through a five-speed manual or four-speed auto box and has mid-range pull. 2.0-litre turbodiesel is gutsy but noisy when revved.
Steering is light, body-roll significant and the ride well-damped. Great if you're using the Grandis to pop down to the shops once a week. Rubbish you're into your driving.
Cruises well but neither engine likes to be pushed.
Well-priced and will sell on well, though in the meantime running costs will be expensive.
Dash is smart but looks cheap, though it should be sturdy. Engines and mechanicals are usually reliable.
Eight bags, ABS with EBD. Stability and traction control on higher specs.
Seven seats with decent space with rear and middle seats easily shifting to provide loads of space in the back.
Climate and cruise control, alloys and CD player as standard. Leather on higher specs.
Ford S-MAX
Spacious and versatile, good performance.
High running costs, interior looks crap.

I can't tell you how great this car is. I've only had it for a month, but it is downright amazing. Okay, parallel parking is a bit of a nightmare, but everything else is nothing short of perfect. The interior is properly space-age, and it gives me a thrill every time I sit behind the wheel. The 2-litre Diesel is very good indeed (from Volkswagen, actually), and when the turbo kicks in, this car really, REALLY, moves. Space for the whole family, lots of fun gadgets, and tons of shopping space. If you need a great all-round car with cavernous space, I would recommend this one with much passion. Go testdrive one!
