1.8-litre 189bhp may sound underpowered, but with such a light chassis it's easily sufficient. Maximum revs at 8,500RPM and 60mph in just over five seconds.
Very firm ride, with accompanying grip and sharp steering. May be uncomfortable for some.
No two ways about it, the Elise is a noisy car.
Good economy, decent tax rates, very strong residuals.
Tough chassis, great engine, may feel a little tinny but it's a well-made car.
ABS, with two airbags optional.
Small boot, decent space for two in the cabin.
CD player included, with leather as an option.
BMW Z4, Honda S2000, Mercedes SLK, Nissan 350Z, Porsche Boxster
For driving it doesn't get any better.
Impractical for most.
