3.5-litre V6 petrol through five-speed auto box is fast, but the 3.3-litre engine with two electric motors provides pace, punch and smoother transmission.
Two suspension set-ups , the higher with air suspension. Both are decent but can't compete with rivals. Both make for a rather sloppy ride.
Quiet while cruising, though both V6s can be heard during revving.
Hybrid motor has much lower running costs than the crippling petrol model. Residuals are very strong.
Reliable and well put-together inside.
Nine bags, ABS, traction and stability control. Full-time 4WD helps.
Plenty of space for five but no seven-seat option. Big boot made bigger by flat-folding seats.
Cruise control, traction control, alloys and CD changer as standard. Leather, satnav and sunroof at higher specs.
Volvo XC90
Lots of space, good engines. Loadsa kit.
Very expensive to buy and run. Bulky. No t a serious off-roader.
