4.0-litre six-cylinder engine provides plenty of low-gear pull and cruises well.
Poor chassis, steering and suspension make for a terrible on-road drive.
Ride can be quite noisy, especially with the soft-top.
Cheap list price in comparison to rivals, but residuals will be very poor, and it may be difficult to sell on at all. Running costs likely to be high.
Engine should be reliable and the Wrangler is generally sturdy. Interiors are practical, if rather flimsy.
Abs and twin airbags only. Nothing else even as options.
Rear is tricky to access and the boot is small.
Aircon and alloys only on the top-specced Sahara trim. Loads of optional stylistic extras though.
Land Rover Defender
According to a dubious report on 'dust-to-dust' emissions the Wrangler is the greenest car in the world.
Good off-road ability.
Everything else.
