Segment/Specs
Hatchback

An oddity. Very cheap for what you get, but a serious driver won't consider it for a second.

Performance

2.0-litre diesel offers economy and flexibility, but power is lacking.

Driving

Grip and steering are poor, and the ride is rather harsh.

Feel

Noisy turbodiesel and poorly-insulated cabin.

Price

prices significantly undercut opposition, loads of kit and decent fuel economy on the plus side. Terrible residuals on the bad. Five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Quality

Cabin materials look cheap, though engines should be durable.

Safety

Four bags, ABD and traction control. Alarm but no deadlocks.

Space

Rear space is a little limited; bootspace a little under par for the segment, though decent. Splitfolding seats open up more space.

Equipment

CDX trim level includes leather, climate control, alloys, CD and sunroof. Satnav is an option.

Alternatives

Skoda Octavia

Pros

Cheap, loaded with kit.

Cons

Feels cheap, doesn't drive well.
