The VTR is barely worthy of the moniker Hot Hatch, producing only 10 more horses than 100. The VYTS has more get up and go, but is not on a par with the best hot hatches.
Performance 
1.6 engine provide 110 125bhp in VTR and VTS respectively, with only the latter having a modicum of oomph. Paddle-shift gearbox is clunky.
Driving
Lots of cornering grip but steering is a bit sloppy.
Feel
Sporty, with all the pros and cons that 'sporty' entails.
Price
Low running costs and deals may be available.
Quality
Interior trims a bit flimsy. Engines fine.
Safety
ABS, four bags, deadlocks and alarm as standard.

Good upfront. Poor in the back. Split rear seats improves negligible bootspace.
