3.5 and a massive 5.7-litre V8 petrol both perform well, the latter massively so. A mere 3-litre diesel will do everything you need though.
Performs well for such a big car: takes corners at speed in its stride but it's a very soft ride.
Quiet engines for the most part, although they can't quite match the refinement of some rivals'. A hint of element noise at speed.
Great value for money, but high running costs and depreciation take the shine off that low starting price.
Cabin isn't up to rivals' quality. Some questions over reliability.
Loads of bags, stability control, deadlocks and immobiliser.
Masses of interior space, with a huge boot to match. You could get 18 golf bags in there. Probably.
Top-line spec as standard, with just about everything you could think of thrown in at entry-level. Alloys, parking sensors, heated leather seats…
Mercedes E-Class Saloon, Audi A6, Jaguar S-Type, Cadillac CTS
Good engines, huge space, great amounts of kit.
Poor ride in town, high running costs.
