3.0- and 3.2-litre petrols producing a powerful 265bhp and 343bhp respectively. Six-speed gearbox.
Superb handling, loads of driver help. Steers like a dream.
A pleasing engine noise.
Running costs are high, but residuals good, and the Z4 compares well in relation to rivals.
Predictably well put-together.
Four airbags and stability/traction control. No curtain bags. Immobiliser and alarm as standard.
Not a lot of space in the cabin but there's a decent boot at 340 litres in the Coupe.
CD player, alloys, air-con, electric roof as standard. Sportier trim available.
Audi TT
Great materials inside, great engines outside.
Not the roomiest and dear to run.

I don't have one of these, I'm sad to say, but my mother's partner drives one, and I have tried it a few times. On summer days, with the roof down, belting down the motorway, there is nothing better than an Z4. The engine sounds wonderful, and this car makes even ME look good, which is quite a feat in itself. If I had enough money to buy a Z4, I would probably be boring and sensible, and buy something else. But for those who can afford not to be sensible, the Z4 is an amazing toy.
