New Renault Kangoo Maxi Van revealed

The new , longer, Renault Kangoo Van Maxi

Two more models have been added to the Renault Van range in the shape of the Kangoo Van Maxi and new Trafic.

Renault has become the first manufacturer to offer a compact van range with three different length options with the launch of the new Renault Kangoo Van Maxi.

Larger than the other vans in the range, the Kango Van and Kango Compact Van, the Kangoo Van Maxi can carry a payload of 800kg.

The new model measures 4.60 metres, 39cm longer than the Kangoo Van. The extra length means the Kangoo Van Maxi boasts an impressive load space of 4.6m3 – the biggest in the compact van segment.

The Kangoo Van Maxi is available with either two or five seats. The five seat version features a 60/40-split folding rear seat and a load length of 1.33 metres.

The two-seater load length of 2.1 metres can be extended to 2.9 metres thanks to the folding passenger seat.

Renault claims the Kangoo Van Maxi is one of the most eco-friendly vans on the market. The 1.5 cDi 85 powerplant returns 53.3mpg on a combined cycle and 47.9mpg on the urban cycle. The best performing engine from the diesel range emits 140g/km of CO2.

Designed as a commercial van, the Kangoo Van Maxi+ trim range comes equipped with a TomTom navigation system as standard.

Introduced in 2009, the Kangoo Van range consisted of the KangooVan Compact and Kangoo Van, and earned a market share of 14.5 per cent in Europe.

The new Renault Trafic, the third-best selling van in the segment in 2009, has been given a facelift and new engine options.

A new dashboard and instrument panel has been added, as well as extra storage space in the cabin.

The new Trafic comes equipped with automatic climate control, TomTom navigation, MP3 player and cruise control and speed limiter with controls on the steering wheel.

The three diesel engines (2.0 dCi 90, 2.0 dCi 115 and 2.5 dCi 150) have cut CO2 emissions on the new model. The 2.0 dCi 115bhp engine with a manual gearbox emits 195g/km and has reduced fuel consumption by as much as 4.2mpg.

Prices for both the Kangoo Van Maxi and new Trafic will be released closer to the launch date of 4 June 2010.
