Renault revives Gordini name for Renaultsport models

Renault has revived the Gordini name and styling to create another niche of the French manufacturer's Renaultsport derivatives.
Renault says Gordini versions of its compact models will be derived from existing Twingo, Clio and Megane Renaultsport models.
The Twingo Gordini RS will be unveiled on 25 November at L’Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées in Paris as part of the ‘Christmas in Blue’ exhibition, prior to a launch next spring. A Clio Gordini RS will be launched a few months later.
The Gordini cars will be priced above standard Renaultsport models but will share the same engine and suspension.
Gordini-style white stripes and French blue paint will be present, though, indicating that the Gordini models are more of an upmarket polish than anything else.
The brand is named after Amédée Gordini, who developed almost 200,000 Renault vehicles over a 20-year period, from the mid-1950s.
The Renault 8 Gordini claimed finishes of 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the 1964 Tour of Corsica rally.
