BMW has launched the new BMW 316d ES Saloon, available in September 2009 in the UK, returning 62.8mpg combined and emitting 118g/km.
Powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, the car has a possible range of excess of 800 miles.
An output of 116bhp and 191lb-ft torque from 1,750rpm power the 316d to 62mph in 10.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph through a six-speed gearbox.
The new diesel model uses EfficientDynamics to drag down fuel consumption and emissions, using brake energy regeneration, low rolling resistance tyres and other tweaks.
Tax for the BMW 316d costs £35 a year, while BIK rating is 13 per cent. This means that a 40 per cent tax payer is liable for £1,208 a year, while a person in the 25 per cent bracket pays £755. BMW says savings of £524 and £328 respectively can be made compared to the 318d.
Standard specs are air-conditioning, multi-function leather steering wheel, front and rear ISOFIX child seat attachments, front foglights and the complete suite of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies as standard.
The new BMW 316d Saloon goes on sale in September priced at £23,330.
