Volkswagen has released images and details of its new Golf Estate in its fourth iteration.
The estate will be available to buy in the UK from early 2010, and will come with a near-1,500 litre boot capacity with 30:30:30 splitfolding adaptable seating.
The new Golf Estate will be available in S, SE and Sportline trims, each boasting a high level of standard specification including air conditioning, a CD player, multi-function computer, electric windows and mirrors, and body-coloured bumpers, mirrors and door handles.
Safety features will include ABS, ESP, driver and front passenger’s whiplash-optimised head restraints and six airbags including a deactivation switch for front passenger airbag.
Engines from the Golf hatch will be available, as will a 120bhp TSI petrol and two turbodiesels. All six engines fulfil the new Euro-5 emissions standard.
Petrol engines will include a 1.4-litre 120bhp model, while diesel will include a new 1.6-litre TDI common rail unit producing 104bhp, while a 2.0-litre TDI 138bhp tops the engine range.
A BlueMotion version of the Golf Estate will also be offered giving additional economy and environmental benefits.
Prices are likely to start at around £15,000.
