Geneva Show: Skoda Yeti debuts

The Skoda Yeti crossover SUV has made its world debut at the Geneva Show 2009 and will go on sale in the UK this autumn.
The Yeti is powered by two petrol and three diesel engines, all of which are turbocharged, with the entry-level engine a front-wheel drive 105bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine. A 1.8-litre petrol with 160bhp and four-wheel drive is the other petrol choice.
Three 2.0-litre turbodiesels with 110bhp, 140bhp and 170bhp are also available, all available in four-wheel drive guise. The lowest-powered diesel engine is also available as a two-wheel drive model.
Skoda says the Yeti's luggage compartment goes up to 1,760 litres when rear seats are removed. A luggage cover and net as well as lashing rings are available to secure any load.
The Yeti features all the usual 4x4 styling features like roof rails, big wheels and the usual 'robust' design. It will go up against the likes of the Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai and Honda CR-V when it goes on sale this autumn, from around £13K.
