Aston Martin will launch the V12 Vantage at the Geneva Motor Show next months before it goes on sale in the UK Autumn 2009 with a price tag of around £140K – positioning it below the DBS, on a par with the Rapide and directly opposed to the likes of the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560.
The V12 Vantage is powered by the same 510bhp 6.0-litre petrol engine as the DBS. That means torque of 420lb-ft and a 62mph sprint time of 4.2 seconds.
The production V12 is a little less mental than the Vantage V12 RS but it's still good for 190mph and harbours a number of elements from Aston Martin racing division.
EBD, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control and traction control are all standard. Encased within Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres on 19" wheels are massive brakes, equipped with ventilated carbon ceramic discs with six calipers each at the front and four at the rear.
Splitter, vents and carbon fibre are the most obvious clues as to exactly how brutal the V12 is likely to be, although some details are carries over from the V8 Vantage.
Aston CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said of the V12: "This is the ultimate performance interpretation of the Vantage range, combining our most agile model with our most powerful engine.
"It represents the definitive driving package, providing spectacular performance to ensure a dynamically thrilling and everyday usable driving experience."
