Hyundai has released more details and images of the forthcoming ix35 small SUV. The ix-onic concept is a replacement for the outgoing Tuscon and will debut at the Geneva Show.
Designed for the European market in Germany, the ix-onic measures 4,400mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,650mm in height – a similar floorpan to a hatchback.
Hyundai says a ' specially developed, high-contrast exterior paint' is employed to accentuate the ix-onics lines, but it's fairly in line with all of the other small SUVs on the market, from the Kuga to the Tiguan.
21-inch polished alloy wheels, concave sills and an aluminium trim comprise exterior highlights. The ix-onic also makes use of high-performance plastics as seen in the QarmaQ concept, allowing for a more three-dimensional shape.
A 168bhp 1.6-litre GDi turbo petrol engine with ISG stop-start technology and a double-clutch six-speed transmission power the ix-onic. Power is transferred by four-wheel drive tuned for on-road driving dynamics, together with significant off-road ability. Emissions are 149g/km of CO2.
