Ford has released new images of a car that it is pinning significant hopes on to become a true world leader - the Fiesta saloon.
The Fiesta saloon will be intended for developing BRIC markets, and will be built at a dedicated plant in China. The model is the first culmination of Ford's efforts to develop a model that can be sold, albeit in different guises, around the world.
The Fiesta saloon may have missed out on the Pininfarina styling the likes of the Focus CC get, but the booted version of the Fiesta is likely to sell better in China particularly and there's a definite influence from the new Mondeo, though it's a Mondy in need of a diet.
While the Fiesta saloon won't be available in Europe, US car-buyers' aversion to anything smaller than a hatchback will mean the booted Fiesta will also go on sale stateside by 2010, assuming Ford makes it that long.
