Mitsubishi has premiered the Lancer Sportback at the Paris Show alongside the new made-in- Europe Colt supermini and Racing Lancer turbodiesel competition car.
Also among the 15 models on display from Mitsubishi is the i MiEV new-generation electric vehicle, the new Lancer saloon, Evo X performance model and a special-edition Pajero for the European market.
The five-door Lancer Sportback hatchback is headed by the Lancer Sportback Ralliart, a sport-orientated 4WD version powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine mated to Mitsubishi Motors' Twin Clutch SST high-efficiency automated manual transmission.
The European-market Colt receives a styling upgrade, including the inverted-slant nose and trapezoidal "jet fighter" grille as used on the Lancer series.
The 5-door Colt also features a restyled rear end and gets a new turbocharged trim level, while a Colt Ralliart trim level is offered in both 5-door and 3-door versions.
Low-CO2 Colt Clear Tec models are powered by a 1.1- or 1.3-litre engine incorporating a stop-start system, while the 1.3-litre Colt Clear Tec FFV is a biofuel option.
The next generation Colt - except Clear Tec variants - will be launched in Europe in either October or November 2008.
The Dakar Rally-bound Racing Lancer is powered by a 280bhp 3-litre V6 diesel engine with two-stage turbocharger that delivers boost across the speed range, with peak torque of well over 400lb-ft .
The i MiEV electric vehicle is destined to his the market in Japan in 2009, using a large-capacity lithium-ion battery system and electric motor in place of a combustion engine.
