SEAT will debut the new Ibiza Cupra and low-CO2 Ibiza Ecomotive models at the Paris Motor Show on 2 October.
The SEAT Ibiza Cupra is powered by a 178bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine featuring a turbocharger and supercharger to boost power delivery and fuel efficiency.
The Ibiza Cupra transmits its power through a seven-speed DSG transmission, complete with F1-style steering wheel paddles.
Based on the Ibiza SportCoupé's three-door body shape, the Cupra boasts a new front bumper and air intakes surrounding the grille.
17” alloy wheels, a rear diffuser incorporating a centrally-placed trapezoid exhaust pipe, Cupra sports seats and track-inspired aluminium pedals round off the Cupra's visual touches, courtesy of Luc Donckerwolke, poached from Lamborghini last year.
The Ibiza Ecomotive emits just 99g/km of carbon dioxide, making it one of the greenest cars on the road, and exept from UK road tax.
Available in both five-door and Sports Coupe versions, the Ibiza Ecomotive is driven by a 79bhp 1.4 turbodiesel with diesel particulate filter.
The Ecomotive borrows technology from Volkswagen's BlueMotion models, including engine software modifications, longer gear ratios, low rolling-resistance tyres and the substitution of the spare wheel for a puncture kit.
Aerodynamics are improved, resulting in a new closed front grille and revised rear spoiler which combine to reduce air resistance.
Both prices and specification for the new Ibiza Cupra and Ibiza Ecomotive will be announced closer to their UK arrival in the middle of 2009.
