The Peugeot Bipper/Citroen Nemo/Fiat Fiorino vann has been awarded the 2009 “International Van of the Year” award at the International Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover.
The van is a joint venture by PSA Peugeot Citroën and FIAT groups, and is sold as the same vehicle rebadged by each manufacturer.
The prize has been awarded since 1992 by a jury of journalists representing 20 European countries, which praised the Bipper for its 'the originality of concept...compact size, optimised load volume, payload, practicality and superb handling'.
The low-consumption and CO2 emissions (62.7 mpg and 119 g CO2/km in the combined cycle with the 1.4 litre HDi engine) were another argument in its favour.
At a dynamic level, members of the jury applauded the vehicle’s engines, the availability of an electronically-controlled manual gearbox and its agile road holding.
The Bipper was launched commercially in the UK in June 2008.
