New Mercedes S400 BlueHybrid pictures

Mercedes has released the first pictures of the new Mercedes S400 BlueHybrid - a vehicle proclaimed to be the most economical luxury petrol saloon.
Returning 35.8mpg on the combined cycle and emitting 190g/km, the BlueHybrid uses an electric motor in tandem with a modified 300bhp 3.5-litre V6 through a seven-speed transmission.
The motor works in stop-start conditions to drive the car and also captures energy from braking and engine overrun, which is stored in a lithium-in battery.
All of which results in a 62mph sprint that takes 7.2 seconds, before going on to a limited 155mph.
Due to go on sale in the US in 2009, a right-hand drive conversion may prove too costly when the S-Class is available with popular diesel engine in the UK.
