Hyundai out in force at Paris Motor Show


The all-new Hyundai i20 five-door hatchback, i20 i-blue concept, Santa Fe petrol-electric hybrid SUV crossover and ix55 SUV are all keeping passports to new horizons close by as the South Korean car manufacturer does its last minute checks before embarking on its Parisian adventure.

All-new Hyundai i20 supermini

First up is the all-new Hyundai i20 sub-compact five-door hatchback which will nestle between the existing i10 and i30 in the current line up, and making its world premiere at the Mondial De L’Automobile from 2 October.

Longer, taller and wider than the Hyundai Getz which it replaces, the new i20 will be sold to supermini buyers on its distinctive looks, equipment levels and fuel economy amongst other things.

All-new Hyundai i20 i-blue concept

The all-new Hyundai i20 i-blue concept is the same in principle as the above, differentiated only by enhancements that will do much to proffer encouraging environmental and driver economizing by way of its under floor covers, 15 millimeter reduction in ground clearance, front and rear aerodynamic tinkering, low rolling resistance rubber and low friction engine oil.

All-in-all the new Hyundai i20 i-blue’s essential ethics will conspire to give owners 68mpg and a CO2 output of 99g/km for its efforts.

All-new Hyundai Santa Fe petrol-electric hybrid concept

The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe petrol-electric hybrid concept is derived from the present Santa Fe SUV crossover on the surface, and includes a new hybrid drive system which works in tandem with the existing 2.4-litre petrol power plant and six-speed auto box. A 30kW electric motor charged by lithium-ion batteries produces figures akin to 148g/km of CO2 emissions and an approximate 44mpg.

All-new Hyundai ix55 SUV

The all-new Hyundai ix55 SUV sadly won’t make it to the UK during its production cycle, yet the seven-seat sports utility vehicle will be present and correct in Paris for inspection. Based on the successful Veracruz already on sale in the USA, the ix55 has been extensively re-styled and re-tuned to match European requirements and driving styles.

Elsewhere on the Hyundai stand, the new Genesis saloon and coupe will be available to muse over for the duration of the show.
