Ford wishes GM a happy 100th birthday

Inter-manufacturer rivalries were put aside yesterday as Ford wished General Motors many happy returns on the occasion of GM's 100th birthday.
Ford spelled out the birthday message on its Dearborn headquarters, using room lights to spell out the message 'Happy 100 GM'.

Ford notched up 100 years in 2003, but both manufacturers - along with Cerberus-owned Chrysler - are struggling in the face of obsolete product ranges, high fuel prices, foreign competition and the impact of the credit crunch.
Founded on September 16, 1908 by William C. Durant, General Motors has sold more than 450 million cars and trucks worldwide in the past 100 years.
