Bugatti Veyron makes headway in UK field

Although the Bugatti Veyron can do almost anything the supercar driver asks of it, MT believes that agricultural work is too big an ask. With ploughing being a definite none-starter.

Though this didn’t stop one owner of the £850,000 supercar inadvertently giving it a go, as pictures circulating the internet testify. Strictly copyrighted ones alas.

It seems that the Bugatti Veyron is fast gaining a reputation as being accident prone. Or to be more precise, bizarre accident prone, following on from another high profile Bug bashing last year.

Pictures emerging from several web sources depict a Veyron stealing a picturesque – yet predominantly rural - scene a million miles from its normal comfort zone. A wheat field in the middle of Berkshire as it happens.

Closer inspection shows what appears to be an integral part of a tree jutting out of its left headlight, which as far as we gather isn’t a factory-fitted option for the landed gentry. Damage to the windscreen is consistent with sustaining a blow from either above or the front of the car, yet the result of any rolling isn’t evident.

In fact a crumpled front end and left front quarter panel bore the brunt – and wears the tell-tale signs – of whatever failed manoevre the driver was attempting to action just before the moment of impact.

The underside of the Veyron also looks a bit suspect, and gives the strongest indication that this foray into the scenery wasn’t simply a minor off-road excursion.

One of the biggest points of debate centres around the participating role the tree played in the baffling incident, and exactly what happened for God sakes.

The only realistic turn of events that observers can extract and summise from the resultant mess can be pinned down to driver error.

Budding Sherlock Holmes believe that given the car’s final juxtaposition to the road – i.e., on the other side of a hedge from it – pointed to the driver losing control on a sweeping bend and the trajectory-induced under steer pushing the car into the apron, after which it played pinball with a number of roadside obstacles including some road-lining topiary, a tree and a wheat field.
