Volkswagen updates TSI and TDI options on Golf

Volkswagen will offer two versions of its TSi turbo petrol engines across the Golf and Jetta ranges in the shape of a 122bhp lump and a 160bhp version of the same engine, but with turbocharger and compressor.
The TDI programme will be extended to include the first common rail engine in Golf models.
VW says the high-torque TSI engines reduce consumption and emissions when mated to the seven-speed dual clutch DSG.
The 138bhp 2.0l TDI has been readjusted for common rail technology for use in the Golf estate and Jetta and now complies with the strict limits of the Euro 5 exhaust emissions norm which will be introduced in 2009.
The dual clutch gearbox DSG is also available, with 20 per cent of customers likely to select this model.
