New MG TF roadsters roll off Longbridge production line

Car production has restarted at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham, with the first of the new MG TF models leaving the production line.
It is over three years since production halted at Longbridge, when MG ROver collapsed, taking with it volume car manufacturing in Britain. MG owners SAIC are using a small part of the overall site to manufacture the new TF.
The plant is currently employing 180 workers who will produce 500 initial high-spec TF LE500s from kits imported from China. More basic TFs will follow later in the year.
The company says that 390 of the initial lot have already been sold through a network of 57 dealerships across the UK.
£16,399 gets a 1.8-litre MG TF LE500 that is basically a rejuvenated version of the model sold by MG Rover earlier in the decade.
