Mercedes ML-Class NCAP results

The Mercedes ML-Class large SUV scored maximum points in impact test to be awarded a maximum five stars for adult occupant protection in Euro NCAP testing.

The ML-Class dropped points on child protection for insufficient information and labelling, though the ML does come with an automatic system that detects whether a child seat is present in the front seat and automatically disables the passenger airbag.

Meanwhile the ML offers poor protection for pedestrians, resulting in on star from four. This is a poor rating by the standards of most new models, and NCAP has announced its intention to use a new overall rating system that takes pedestrian protection into account.

The Mercedes ML-Class is fitted as standard with 'Pre-Safe', which senses when an accident is likely to happen and optimises occupant safety by priming the restraint system.
