Approached for their intimate views on the art of romance - and whether they believed that true love can last forever - the extensive ‘Love Report’ was commissioned by the Fiesta Love Factory to celebrate the launch of the new Ford Fiesta.
‘Love’ might not be all around, in every particle of the air or kept in a specific shack, baby….. but it is out there, actually. And how do we know this? Because Ford has said so.
Apparently it can be found down the back of the seats, in the glove box, under the wheel arches and in the boot of the brand new Ford Fiesta that will be flashing a finely turned ankle this September. The old, new tease.
Hot on the heels of indulging itself in a spot of how’s your father, mother, grandma, grandpa, aunty and dodgy uncle’s (no one talks about any more) views on love, Ford has discovered that a reassuring 82% of Britons believe that love can last a lifetime.
Ford has been engaging the hearts and minds of a selection of Europeans, determining who’s the most loved up country, with some startling results thrown up. Not least Brits beating the Italians (48%) and French (64%) into a cocked hat and grabbing top spot.
Everlasting love can strike any one of us at any given time, although Ford has its fingers crossed car buyers can divert Cupid’s arrow until after the launch of its all-new Fiesta model in September.
So, what else does the Ford Fiesta Love Factory Love Report tell us about ourselves that we don’t already know?
All-new Ford Fiesta hits all car buyer's love buttons
Well, Inserting the love dipstick in as far as it goes, Ford flirted with the touchy feelings of 500 people aged between 18 – 80 to see if it could get to the bottom of it.
Shockingly, men it appears believed more in the concept of soul mates and love at first sight, with British males buying into that romantic motion more than their European counterparts. Oh, and 87% of the over 55s in the UK thought that love lasted till death us do part. Ahh, bless ‘em.
Slightly sicklier though was the fragile premise that the car manufacturer is well positioned to conduct this sort of survey given that it makes cars that the car buying public fall in love with.
We might have to confer with owners of the Fiat 500 and Volkswagen Beetle on that score perhaps?
As Ford of Britain's Fiona Pargeter explained: "In celebration of our Fiesta Love Factory and having produced the new Ford Fiesta with real passion, we wanted to delve into Europe's romantic sensibilities and really find out what else makes people tick. Our suspicions have certainly be confirmed: that our nation is one that loves to love, so we certainly hope people fall for the new Fiesta too."
In a none meccaphile sense we hope.
