Hit by the credit-crunch, higher cost of living, job uncertainties, the poor exchange rate between the Pound and the Euro, not to mention fuel surcharges on holiday flights, many UK families this year are staying in the UK for their holidays and packing into campsites and caravan parks despite the weather.
The recent drop in fuel prices has meant that some families have decided to take a holiday after all. To cut costs many have been busy digging out their old camping equipment or dragging their old unused caravans out of store and are now heading for our coasts.
As the attached pictures show it might seem that many caravanners are using their 4x4s for what nature intended and have also resorted to not using congested motorways, but instead have been heading for the coast taking shorter and less busy routes.
Before the anti 4x4 lobby get up in arms about damaging the countryside I should point out that these amusing images came from the recent UK motoring media press launch for the new Jeep Cherokee models, prices from £24,595, and were taken on a fully licensed and approved off-road course in North Wales. The aim was to show off the 2.8-litre Cherokee’s 2,800kg towing strengths.
You have to smile.
