The new Peugeot 308 CC coupe-cabriolet - roomier, cleaner, gadget-ier
Published: 11 July 2008
Peugeot has revealed the new 308 CC coupe-cabriolet ahead of its debut at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in September.
The French manufacturer currently sells the 207 CC - the UK's best-selling drop-top - and 307 CC.
The four-seater has a folding metal roof that 'magically' retracts in 20 seconds, according to Peugeot. We're fairly sure that magic has nothing to do with it, but what we are sure about more gadgets, more safety kit and neck-warming systems. The boot has 465 litres capacity or 266 litres with the roof folded.
Peugeot says the 308 CC has been designed to have a different character from the 308 hatch, with a lower stance, sculpted front seats and LED lights distinguishing the coupe-cabriolet. The 308 CC will be available with both simple and an "integral leather" interior trim.
The 308 CC comes with a new 140bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel that it Euro-V compliant, through a six-speed manual box. Tyres front and back are wider profile, with larger brake discs and electronic stability control as standard.
A full complement of airbags includes chest/pelvis side airbags built into the front seats and a side head airbag, while active rear roll-over protection bars are also included.
The Pug 308 CC also benefits from an Airwave warm air-heating system built into the front seats to blast warm air at the front-seat occupants' necks.
Security features include automatic remote-control locking of the glove box and storage under the central armrest and deadlocks.
Multimedia includes an MP3 CD audio system, iPod/MP3 connectivity, hands-free phone kit and satnav with Bluetooth functionality and retractable 7″ 16/9 colour display depending on specification.
No word on prices or release dates, but a small premium over the 307 CC seems likely, potentially putting the 308 CC at around £19K. Meanwhile a September debut suggests the 308 CC will be available in early 2009.

Around 400 people a day risk damaging their car by misfuelling, and filling up with gas is a mistake that could cost thousands. So what do you do if you´ve filled up your diesel car with unleaded petrol?

Euro Car Parts has acquired Pinco 1555 Ltd, including all 53 of LSUK's 53 branches, together with subsidiaries M I Diesel Products, Protech Automotive (UK) and Yeovil Rewind.

Fuel protests similar to those that brought the UK to a halt in 2000 are being planned by a breakaway group of disaffected hauliers, according to press reports.

Euro Car Parts has put out a statement on the closure of LSUK, stating that a closure of the business was unavoidable due to a 'lack of support'.

LSUK, thought to have been rescused by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
