New Kia supermini models breeze in this summer for UK car buyers
Published: 02 July 2008
Kia has rolled out two cool new models this summer – the Picanto Chill and Rio Chill - set to turn the temperature up on A-Segment and B-Segment supermini rivals.
Picanto Chill emerges from the shade at £6,995. For that entry-level price you get remote central locking, full iPod connectivity, the obvious air-con and a raft of funky exterior colours exclusive to the Chill models – including Cool Blue would you believe? And the heat’s also taken off Picanto buyer’s eco-pressure, as the four-seat Chill model emits 118g/km of CO2.
The Rio Chill can be defrosted from £7,995 for the 1.4-litre petrol engine, whilst a 1.5-litre CRDI diesel is also available. Central locking, electrically-operated front windows as well as a spoiler and 14” alloy wheels and the ubiquitous air-con are refreshing seasonal takes on the current Rio line-up.
The 1.5-litre CRDI might burn oil, but emitting just 199g/km of CO2, it has little destructive effect on the environment.
Not to be outdone in the effortlessly cool department, the Kia Cee’d family is extending its range by the power of two this summer, with the introduction of a couple of special editions.
The Pro_cee'd ZR-7 gets a 1.4-litre petrol engine for the first time, and is on sale from £11,995. Assuming the role of the base model in the range, it comes with 16” alloys, air-con, metal interior flushes, black bezel headlights, remote central locking and one years free insurance just to make it even more of a tantalizing offer.
The Cee’d SR-7 means car buyers get to deliberate over an additional duo that boast 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines.
The SR-7 introduces Kia’s unique Mars Red paintwork lifted from the Pro_cee’d range to the five-door Cee’d for the first time, along with an exciting choice of other colours, both solid and metallic. With this unique look the Cee’d SR-7 also adds a 6CD changer, USB/Auxillary socket, unique 16” alloys, air conditioning and front fog lights.
With a starting price from just £10,995 and a choice of manual or automatic transmissions there is now a Cee’d to match everyone’s needs.

Around 400 people a day risk damaging their car by misfuelling, and filling up with gas is a mistake that could cost thousands. So what do you do if you´ve filled up your diesel car with unleaded petrol?

Euro Car Parts has acquired Pinco 1555 Ltd, including all 53 of LSUK's 53 branches, together with subsidiaries M I Diesel Products, Protech Automotive (UK) and Yeovil Rewind.

Fuel protests similar to those that brought the UK to a halt in 2000 are being planned by a breakaway group of disaffected hauliers, according to press reports.

Euro Car Parts has put out a statement on the closure of LSUK, stating that a closure of the business was unavoidable due to a 'lack of support'.

LSUK, thought to have been rescused by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
