With car fans attending the British Motor Show this week being given the responsibility to make or break a raft of manufacturers concept car futures, chiropractors must be lining up to cope with a multitude of neck injuries as the rule is undoubtedly run.
Reliant on the best of British to award car manufacturers’ future creations with the dreaded shake, or the more optimistic nod of the car buffs cranium, Hyundai is one such example of making a motor show the real litmus test of an automotive product, and moreover, the ultimate illustration of forward-thinking market research.
We digress a little, as the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe concept’s future is secured in most other global markets – mainly the US and Korean - so Brits are simply deciding for themselves whether they want an affordable, 310bhp 3.8-litre V6 engined front wheel drive play thing to tease the Nissan 350Z with at traffic lights across the UK. Tough one that.
Chiefly – and fingers firmly crossed behind backs - Hyundai reckons Brits will deliberate over which model in the forecast Genesis Coupe range they want, with the 212bhp 2.0-litre turbo power plant the most likely candidate.
All we say is this. Good citizens of Britain, let that convenient memory lapse over petrol prices and the C-Charge, and allow your heart to win this battle.
Around £25K of your sterling currency should tip the scales in UK buyers favour should it arrive here in the foreseeable.
Incidentally, whilst chin stroking and brow beating, visitors to the British Motor Show may like to distract themselves with some light relief. And trouble those staffing the Hyundai i10 ice-cream van for one of their finest Mr. Whippy’s. You read right.
To underline the Hyundai i10 being the first city car to offer air con as standard – and with it supposedly being summer and all that – Hyundai thought it would be a PR hoot to construct a traditional ice-cream van from an i10. Fun-tastic!
