Ford will debut the all-new Fiesta at the British Motor Show as demand for smaller greener models continues to grow in the UK.
Due to be launched later this year, the new Fiesta will come in a ECOnetic version that will boast the best CO2, fuel economy and value of all four-cylinder, four-seat cars on sale in the UK. What that means is nearly 75mpg and under 100g/km of CO2, making it exempt from road tax.
The arrival of the Fiesta comes on the back of news indicating that Ford's ECOnetic range is selling strongly, with Ford vehicle with emissions of under 120g/km growing by 38 per cent in the first six months of the year.
The ECOnetic is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine and uses aerodynamic tweaks, lightweight materials, low-viscosity oil, longer gearing and low-resistance tyres to reduce fuel consumption.
The Fiesta ECOnetic will offer air-con, curtain airbags, a CD stereo and electric windows as standard, and is likely to go on sale from around £11,500.
"The British motor show is scheduled to bring half a million car enthusiasts to Ford's East London heartland," said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director. "They will see new Fiesta, with sporty Zetec-S and frugal ECOnetic variants on the stand.
