All-new Nissan Qashqai+2 world premiere at British Motor Show

All-new Nissan Qashqai+2 thrust onto world stage at BIMS

All-new Nissan Qashqai +2 will flash its new-found seven seat SUV Crossover confidence at this month’s British International Motor Show, as the waiting and watching world get its first peek at a targeted collection of Qashqai and Murano crossovers, set-square-designed electric cars, new twists on 25-year-old Micra themes and a taste of affordable GT-R supercar.

The all-new Qashqai+2 follows the mantra of 'if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it' to the letter. Instead going down the numbers road and adding a couple more seats for good measure. The Sunderland-built Qashqai+2 has elongated the Qashqai-2 wheelbase to accommodate the two further pews that in all honesty are aimed at children. Or adults of smaller assembly. Luggage space has secured a great deal in the makeover though, adding 90-litres to its presence.

Not to be outshone as well as outstretched, the ordinarily capacious Qashqai will roll out a special edition at the British Motor Show, the Sound & Style, which – as the name implies – focuses on some snazzy interior design flourishes and the housing in its midst a hardcore Bose sound system. On sale in November, 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines of the extra-sensory special edition will be offered.

Also appearing, the all-new Murano is being readied to hit Nissan’s UK showrooms toward the end of 2008 with a revised appearance, a posher interior and a 3.5-litre V6 engine.

The Nissan GT-R requires little introduction to the Motor Show crowd, as the manufacturer's flagship model guns into London’s docklands. The £52,900 supercar for the masses hits 62mph in 3.5 seconds and has the lungs to bust 195mph.

With electric cars never being out of the automotive news, Nissan is making sure its Denki Cube grabs its fair share of the ExCeL headlines during the event. Currently – if you pardon the pun – going down a storm in its domestic Japanese market, the inescapably angular Cube is aimed at the younger folk as a minimalist mobile youth club. Powered by lithium-ion batteries – which showcase more urgency and raw energy, Nissan is really boxing clever with its electric dreams.

Elsewhere at the show, the dependable Micra is celebrating 25 years in the business of supplying superminis – wrapping up a special anniversary model with the name ‘Micra 25’ on the tag. The Nissan Note Acenta S family hatchback is another new sub model that sits between the existing Acenta and Tekna variants and starts from £11,995.
