SsangYong has launched two new models in the shape of light commercial vehicles based on its Kyron and Rexton SUVs.

The SsangYong Kyron C-S and Rexton C-S are based on the Kyron and Rexton S passenger SUV cars, and converted in the UK with the removal of the rear seats to provide a flat load area, and addition of black tinted rear windows.

Both have four-wheel drive, with the Kyron C-S priced at £13,995 and the Rexton C-S at £15,995 (exclusive of delivery, first registration charges, and VAT).

The Kyron C-S has a payload of 530kg and cargo volume of 2,384 litres, while the Rexton C-S has a volume of 2,186 litres and a payload of 740 kg.

A guard to separate driver and passenger from the load is available for £299, while a tachograph fitting kit and Mercedes T-Tronic auto transmission are options on both models.

SsangYong Kyron C-S
The Kyron C-S is powered by a 2.0-litre, common-rail turbodiesel delivering 140bhp and 229lb-ft of torque through a five-speed manual box with part-time four-wheel drive.

Standard kit includes ESP with active rollover protection (ARP) and hill descent control (HDC), when working in slippery off-road sites. It also has ABS brakes with EBD and two 12 volt DC power outlets and roof bars.

Climate control air conditioning and a six-speaker Kenwood audio system with CD and RDS radio and steering wheel controls are also standard.

Towing capacity is up to 2.3 tonnes.

SsangYong Rexton C-S
The Rexton C-S is powered by a 163bhp turbodiesel developing 250lb-ft at 2,400rpm through a five-speed ‘torque on demand’ manual transmission with torque splitter.

The SsangYong Rexton C-S will tow up to 3.2 tons with its torque on demand system providing the traction where needed.

All the same letters as featured by the Kyron are present and correct, including ESP, ARP and HDC are there, plus of course, ABS brakes with EBD. Check out our Jargon guide if you need to know what they mean.

The front screen is heated, while an auto climate control is standard. A six-speaker Kenwood CD player and RDS radio has steering wheel controls. There are three 12 volt DC outlets.

Like SsangYong’s passenger cars, the C-S models have a three year/60,000 mile warranty.
