New Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red would make Red Adair sweat
Published: 26 June 2008
Question: What’s black and white, yet red all over? Answer: The New £13,000 Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red special edition, that’s about to be afforded a lot of motoring column inches.
That’s right, with its black and white chequered flag roof decal to offset Ford’s Colorado Red paintjob that the Zetec S Red sports, Ford is definitely lighting the red touch paper with its latest supermini-singeing Fiesta.
Official word is that just 400 editions of the car manufacturer’s spicy enfant terrible have been fitted and kitted out, and now available for £13,000.
With the current-generation Fiesta finish line in sight come September the race is apparently on for Ford to roll out as many special editions as physically possible to keep the brand profile high right up till the car manufacturer says…”..Here’s another. Only completely new this time!”
This ‘Red’ hot poker of a Zetec S itself follows in the burnt rubber tread marks of the Radian yellow ‘Anniversary’ and Lime green ‘Celebration’ Fiestas which against rhyme or reason sold out within weeks of last years launch.
16” alloys, oppressively dark rear window tints and panther black flourishes to the door mirrors, handles, body side mouldings and roof lip spoiler give the Zetec S Red a decisively too hot to handle appearance from the outside, whilst the ebony leather seating arrangement and air-con lend a much needed cool ambience to the interior.
Caustic then it may be, but at least the Zetec S Red doesn’t need hosing down with excessive amounts of fuel though, based as it is on Ford’s frugal 1.6-litre petrol engine.
