Mitsubishi will unveil the Lancer Sportback and Lancer Ralliart at the Paris Motor Show 2008 in October prior to the Sportback going on sale later this year in Europe.
The Lancer Sportback is a five-door sport hatchback and will be powered by a choice of 108bhp 1.5-litre or 142bhp 1.8-litre petrol engines or by a 139bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel.
The Lancer Sportback features an auto-folding function to boost bootspace through adjustable rear-floor height and rear folding seats. Prices will start from £13,999.
The Lancer Ralliart warm saloon - a step down from the Evo - and Lancer Sportback Ralliart that are based on the Lancer saloon and Lancer Sportback will be powered by a turbocharged engine mated to a Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission and will feature four-wheel drive through an Active Center Differential.
The Lancer Ralliart and Lancer Sportback Ralliart models use a new turbocharged 237bhp 2-litre engine developing 260lb-ft. The models also feature two-pot calliper front brakes and a larger brake master cylinder.
Mitsubishi has premiered the Lancer Sportback at the Paris Show alongside the new made-in- Europe Colt supermini and Racing Lancer turbodiesel competition car.
New Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X range is on sale now, including variants with 300, 330 and 360PS power outputs costing between £27,499 and £37,999.
The new Mitsubishi Evo X offers incredible performance and handling, but high cost twinned with under-par quality take the sheen off Mitsubishi's 'affordable supercar'.
The new Mitsubishi Lancer range starts from £12,499 for the forthcoming hatch, while saloon models start at £14,999.
The new Mitsubishi Lancer saloon and Sportback range look good and offer impressive standard specifications, but drivability on the Evo-related model really lets the side down.
