All-new Land Rover LRX Concept pushing JLR to new heights

Jaguar Land Rover is set to go into recruitment overdrive now as the Tata Motors-owned, British-based car manufacturer seeks to attract up to 600 new employees to play pivotal roles in new and imminently forthcoming technology and product development schedules.

A sure adrenalin-injection in the previously ailing arm of the UK car industry, news that Jaguar Land Rover is investing £700 million in what it calls sustainable technologies so as to increase the environmental performance of its current and upcoming models, has been widely welcomed.

Alleviating some of the initial concerns of some pessimistic automotive industry figures who feared that the recent takeover of JLR by Tata Motors would signal any further spending or recruitment being taken overseas, an announcement on the scale of this week’s is more than many dissenting voices could have imagined.

As well as on the look-out for experienced, graduate engineers to further embellish its existing workforce within the exciting product development function and therefore subsequently engaged in new ground-breaking projects, JLR is also hoping to receive a flood of applications from those interested in forging a career in its rapidly expanding purchasing, finance and human resources departments.

At the same time, Jaguar Land Rover is inviting 80 recent degree-level candidates to embark on its all-new graduate programme set to commence this September which will continue for two years, during which time the training and education provided will ultimately allow successful students the opportunity to integrate themselves in their chosen department on completion.

As this transitional period in JLR’s history plays out, painting observers a clearer picture of how the immediate future will look, both brands are witnessing increased growth in worldwide sales, with the Jaguar XF saloon indicative of just how the coming years will pan out. Recording three successive years of incrementally sustained unit sales, the arrival of the much-heralded Land Rover LRX Concept is set to take JLR and its entire staff on a promising journey.

Commenting on Jaguar Land Rover’s recruitment drive, its HR Director – Des Thurlby - added, "The campaign is up and running and Jaguar Land Rover will be targeting a number of different employment sectors to attract top quality candidates. We shall also be working through a variety of channels from press advertisements to the graduate milk round, and a new dedicated recruitment website. The work on offer is cutting-edge and the rewards impressive. This business has a bright future and we think it will be a very attractive place to work for the best in our industry here in the UK."
