Eager to join the retro car nostalgia trip as seen in the renewed popularity of revived Volkswagen Beetle, Fiat 500 and MINI, Citroen is said to be developing a new take on the 2CV.
The convergence of the iconic 2CV's 60th anniversary and the forthcoming Paris Motor Show have stirred speculation that a concept may be on the cards, while a number of images revealing a possible new 2CV have been released by Italian designer Paola Martin.
Martin says his concept is “a reinterpretation of an unattractive yet brilliant vehicle.”
“Trying to capture the original aesthetic spirit, I tried to draw on this ‘design without frills’, by keeping the same proportions and adopting the single multifunctional headlight unit as a characterising design element."
Citroen retired the 2CV in 1990.
