Audi's new models exposed by leaked document

Audi R8 supercar set to appear in Spyder form. Price wont be a steal though

A top secret Audi file has surfaced documenting the German manufacturer's future range of either completely new or revamped models.

The findings reveal specific plans and exact details with regard an upcoming Audi A1, S4, RS4, A5 Sportback, S5 Sportback, A8 and R8 Spyder.

A cause for both concern and 'internal investigations' for Audi is manna from automotive heaven for fans of Teutonic steel, as the new RS4 and R8 Spyder scream out for attentions.

The Audi A1 supermini is scheduled to go on sale as of March 2010 - housing both petrol and diesel engines all the way up to a high-performance 170bhp turbo-charged variant - which will see this 'baby Audi' go head-to-head with BMW's Mini.

A new power plant for the Audi S4 will debut at this year's Paris Motor Show, a new super-charged 333bhp 3.0-litre TFSI V6, the Ingolstadt-based company's replacement for its current 4.2-lite V8 seen in the same car.

At the same time, Audi's all-new super-saloon – the RS4 – will be launched in March 2010 and will receive a highly-tuned adaptation of the aforementioned 4.2-litre V8 lump as its power source. Equipped with Audi's new seven-speed double-clutch transmission, the RS4 will then be seen as having the potential to duke it out with the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

The Audi A5 Sportback is an altogether new proposition, and previous best kept secret in Audi's portfolio. Keenly described as a radical shooting-brake style vehicle, it will compliment the envisaged A5 line-up that includes an A5 coupe and foreseen A5 cabriolet. Available to the buying public as early as April 2009, the engine choice will stretch through a range of petrols and diesels coming in both front or four-wheel drive formats.

The Audi S5 Sportback will be the auto-maker's coup de grace when it appears in June 2010, utilising the same 333bhp supercharged V6 furnace bestowed upon the S4.

Also that month and year, expect to see the Audi Q3. Although it could be called the Q1 at the last minute. Based on the VW Tiguan, the Q-something will come in four engine choices, two petrol, two diesel.

A new-generation Audi A8 will be run-out in November 2009, whilst at the same time a roof-less version of the Audi R8 – the Audi R8 Spyder as it happens - will make its public bow.

This glut of either completely new, or upgraded models, is expected to be confirmed as Audi's concerted push for a 50 per cent increase in sales by 2015, with 1.5 million vehicles the projected target.

The manufacturer is staying schtum in light of this 'indiscretion', neither confirming or rubbishing the exposed publications claims, instead busying itself by conducting a witch-hunt.
