2009 Cadillac CTS-V sports saloon - not likely to be cheap

The credit crunch, high oil prices, rush to small cars and environmental issues seem to have bypassed GM, which is busy lauding the new limited-edition 2009 Cadillac CTS-V - Caddy's V8 performance saloon.
The CTS-V is powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre LSA engine, with a certified 556bhp at 6100 rpm and 551lb-ft of torque at 3800 rpm.
Those impresive figures propel the not-insignificant bulk of the Cadillac CTS-V from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds, covering the quarter-mile in 12 seconds at 118 mph.
GM says the acceleration times are believed to be the fastest for any V-8-powered saloon currently in production, though it's not that clear how many competotirs there are out there to be the fastest large saloon in the world.
The CTS-V also includes Magnetic Ride Control and a new automatic transmission with paddle-shift control, allowing for crazy hoon action alongside a balanced and comfortable ride.
A cast-iron limited-slip differential enables excellent high-speed stability along with comfortable low-speed manoeuvrability, says Caddy.
“CTS-V represents the full extension of our design, technology and performance capabilities,” said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. “The V-Series takes the award-winning CTS sport sedan and elevates it to a position within the club of the world’s most exclusive and capable cars.”
In testing at the Nürburgring, the new CTS-V completed a lap of the Nordschleife in 7:59.32 - the fastest ever publicly documented for a production saloon on factory-spec tyres.

Cadillac has unveiled the new CTS Sports Wagon at the Paris Motor Show, prior to UK sales commencing in 2009.
The new Cadillac CTS luxury saloon will go on sale in UK showrooms on 1 September 2008 from £26,995.
