The Seat Ibiza scored a maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests, with four stars from five for child protection and three from four for pedestrian protection.
The supermini protected the driver and front passenger during the impact, with no damage to knees or femurs.
The Ibiza scored maximum points for its protection of the child dummy, but the Ibiza lost points for not marking airbags and ISOFIX child seat mountings clearly.
The bumper scored maximum points for the protection it offered to pedestrians' legs, while the bonnet was rated fair for a child's head, but poor for the head of a struck adult.
Seat has unveiled the all-new Ibiza Cupra hot hatch as styled by ex-Lambo man Luc Donckerwolke at the Paris Show.
SEAT will debut the new Ibiza Cupra and low-CO2 Ibiza Ecomotive models at the Paris Motor Show on 2 October.
White-hot coloured new Seat Ibizas and Leons flying out of UK showrooms in 2008, so much so that Seat reckons British motorists are ready for Lumina Orange, Kiwi Green and other new Seat shades this autumn.
The all-new Ibiza five-door hatchback heralds the start of a new product offensive by SEAT. Ibiza three-door SportCoupe diesel, Cupra and FR variants are all on their way too.
Overall the new Ibiza is a sharper looking, sharper handling and roomier car with lots of extra equipment but needs a boost from some new engine options.
