Brabus SL edition is powered by a massive 6.3-litre engine
Published: 09 May 2008
Brabus has released details of its take on the Mercedes SL convertible, and predictably it revolves around dropping a bloody massive engine under the bonnet.
The Brabus SV 12 Biturbo S Roadster is powered by a 6.3-litre twin-turbo V12 developing 720bhp and a massive 811lb-ft of torque, with the torque figure limited to prevent the drop-top tearing itself apart.
The 62mph sprint takes 3.8 seconds and top speed is limited to 219mph, giving the new Veyron Targa a run for its money. There's no word on how much all of this will set you back, but if you have to ask, you'll probably have to look elsewhere.
Meanwhile the limited edition SL63 AMG Edition IWC caters for those a little less set on wrapping them selves around a lamppost.
Swiss watch maker IWC Schaffhausen has created 200 editions, based on the Merc SL63 AMG in a Kashmir White finish, carbon fibre interior trim, 19-inch wheels, rear limited-slip diff and ceramic brakes.
And while the IWC doesn't quite have the poke of the Brabus, there's a hefty AMG 6.2-litre V8 putting out 525bhp through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission. 62mph takes 4.6 seconds and is limited to 180mph.
So, you don't get to go 200mph, but you do get a free watch.
