The Ford Kuga compact SUV has received a maximum five NCAP stars for adult occupant protection, while it was awarded four stars from five for child protection and three stars from four for pedestrian protection.
The passenger compartment remained stable in the front impact test, but the driver's airbag did not prevent the head from striking the steering wheel. The Kuga scored maximum points for its performance in the side impact and pole tests.
The Kuga scored maximum points for its protection of the 1½ year old infant and the three-year-old child based on dummy responses in the full scale tests, but missed out on full marks for a lack of properly-marked safety information relating to airbags and ISOFIX restraints
The Kuga's bumper scored maximum points for its protection of pedestrians' legs, though the front edge of the bonnet was rated as predominantly poor, as was the protection offered to the head of a struck adult by the bonnet surface.
The Kuga features front seatbelt pretensioners, front seatbelt load limiters, driver frontal airbag, front passenger frontal airbag, side body airbags and side head airbags as standard.
