The NICE Mega City car - big savings claimed by manufacturer
Published: 12 May 2008
The makers of the all-electric NICE Mega City car claim that owning the vehicle over a petrol-engines alternative can save up to £3,000 a year on fuel and tax. The electric vehicle is available to buy now from £10,847.
With petrol prices nearing £5 per gallon and diesel already there, VED and Congestion Charging can combine to leave motorists facing a £3K bill per year, according to the company.
The Mega City car is exempt from road tax and the Congestion Charge as it theoretically has no emissions, assuming that the electricity used to power it comes from a renewable source. SOme London boroughs also make parking free for all-electric vehicles.
NICE addresses the safety chestnut by claiming that the Mega City car has been safety tested by the manufacturer, but does not provide details.
“All-electric cars and urban mobility go hand-in-hand” said Evert Geurtsen co-founder NICE Car Company. “It’s no secret that mainstream car companies are developing models for market but they don’t expect them on sale for a number of years.
"We are one of the few that can offer customers a choice today. There are myriad benefits in owning a NICE car –including hard economics.”
NICE claims that the cars are pollution-free and almost 100% recyclable. Range is a claimed 40-mile between charges, and standard equipment includes CD-radio, electric windows, parking sensors and remote central locking, on top of a two-year warranty
The Mega City starts at £10,847 on the road.
