Biofuel crops could damage some engines, according to reports

Motorists who buy fuel from the black market or from disreputable garages at risk due to potential problems with bacteria in biofuels now found in all in petrol and diesel.
Fuel from tanks that are improperly cleaned could include bacteria that grow in biofuels that grow into blobs that can clog engine filters.
2.5% of fuel bought at the pumps now includes ethanol for petrol or biodiesel in diesel fuel. But biodiesel acts as a solvent that strips contaminants from fuel lines and clogs up filters and injection systems.
Older diesel vehicles are likely to be more at risk, however a chnage of fuel filter is likely to remedy the problem in most cases.
Businesses are now being warned that they must flush out their tanks regularly to avoid these complications.
