Abramovich gives Mourinho limited-edition Ferrari 612 Scaglietti worth £2m

Mourinho had his eye on a sexy Italian. Allegedly

The relationship between boss and manager wasn't quite as strained as we were led to believe, not if the man making the boardroom decisions buys his maverick coach a £2 million limited edition Ferrari 612 Scaglietti as a parting gift.

In a Ferrari-fetishing-MD themed news item, it’s come to our attention that Mr. R. Abramovich (once of Russia, now of Chelsea) might not object to Mr. J. Mourinho (once of Chelsea, now of Portugal again) half as much as people first thought. That’s because hatred doesn’t usually lead to the bestowing of £2 million quids worth of Ferrari 612 Scaglietti rarer than rocking horse doo-daa turning up on your doorstep in our experience.

It emerged (i.e, someone told someone else who rang up a reporter) that as of February this year – and some five months after getting the heave-ho from Chelsea FC for over-achieving – Blues baron Abramovich handed over the keys of the £2 million Limited Edition Ferrari 612 Scaglietti to the self-proclaimed Special One.

On launch, the Ferrari's RRP was a more modest £250,000, however with only 60 examples ever seeing the light of day, the supercar’s price soon rocketed.

Apparently it all stemmed from when Mourinho was still on the payroll at Stamford Bridge, and was embroiled in locating a versatile, practical, yet stylish four-seater car to run himself, his wife and his couple of kids around London in. Down on his luck, he asked his boss if he could assist him through his network of 'contacts' shortly before his shock departure.

True to his word – like ‘you’re fired, clear your desk' – Roman sourced and delivered just what Mourinho was looking for in February this year, albeit a little late, complete with ‘Special One’ engraved on a body-mounted plaque. Oh how they despised one another.

At present, the 5.7-litre V12-engined Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is the sole four-seat supercar that the Italian automaker builds, and generates 540bhp and 433 lb-ft of torque as it goes about its brisk business of hurling the 612 to 199mph not long after hitting 62mph in 4.2 seconds.
